Charity Watch:

Child Find of America Inc. is a national not-for-profit organization that locates missing children through active investigation and publicity, prevents child abduction through education, and prevents/resolves incidents of parental abduction through conflict management and mediation.

Child Find of America, Inc. is a national not-for-profit organization that works
to prevent and resolve all cases of missing, abducted and runaway children.

Each year Child Find of America logs between 10,000 - 15,000 calls for help from searching and/or abducting parents, parents in conflict, family members, law enforcement, child welfare and other allied agencies, at-risk youth and educators.

With over 6,000 open case plans, on any given day our case managers are working on dozens of active cases.

Each year Child Find's efforts positively impact thousands of children and directly assist several hundred more in complex issues involving locating and returning them to - or keeping them in - a safe and legal environment.

Child Find was founded in 1980 by Gloria Yerkovich, the mother of a missing child in upstate New York, when there was limited law enforcement response to missing children and no laws about parental abduction.  Little was understood about the devastation child abduction has on the child.

Child Find has played a significant role in the creation of laws that now make all forms of child abduction a crime; in the establishment of a national clearinghouse to assist law enforcement in their investigations, in the establishment of May 25th as National Missing Children's Day and in the increased media attention given to missing children cases.

Over the years Child Find has greatly expanded its scope of services, providing prevention, education, mediation, conflict resolution, investigation, information and referral and support services to families in crisis here in America and internationally in more than a dozen countries.  Child Find prides itself as being a national expert in the prevention and resolution of parental/family abduction.

We are also proud that our sound fiscal management and effective programming has earned high praise from charity watch groups, the media, law enforcement and social service agencies.  On average, each year Child Find spends more than 90 cents of every dollar donated directly on providing program services, and because of this outstanding efficiency, Child Find has consistently earned an A+ rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy.

In 2002, the White House recognized Child Find's dedication by inviting our Executive Director to speak at the first White House Conference on Missing and Exploited Children.
